- London Mozart Players
- William Vann
Handel’s 1741 oratorio Messiah is one of the most famed of all choral works, setting a selection of scriptural texts compiled by Charles Jennens, and although it can be performed at any time of year, Holy Week is a particularly fitting time.
The chorus and soloists are members of the Royal Hospital’s critically acclaimed Chapel Choir, making its first appearance at Cadogan Hall. William Vann, Director of Music at the Royal Hospital, conducts the choir and the London Mozart Players, the UK’s first chamber orchestra.
Tonight’s performance will be slightly abridged.
‘first-class personnel… it’s the tension and subtlety in the performances that catch the ear’ (Gramophone on the Royal Hospital Choir)
