Lucio Silla

Classical Opera makes a welcome return to Cadogan Hall with a rare concert performance of Lucio Silla, arguably the greatest and grandest of Mozart’s early operas. Ian Page conducts a superb young cast, comprising some of the UK’s most exciting up-and-coming talent, and this will be the first UK performance of this magnificent but neglected work since 1998.

Rome, c. 80 BC. The dictator Lucio Silla has banished the senator Cecilio, and hopes to win Cecilio’s bride Giunia for himself. But Cecilio has secretly returned from exile, and plans to rescue Rome and Giunia from Silla’s evil tyranny…

“Stylish, eloquent and dramatic music-making of the highest order.” (International Record Review)
