Classical Opera celebrates the launch of its new recording of Apollo et Hyacinthus with a complete concert performance of the work. Mozart’s first opera, written when he was only eleven, contains music of miraculous accomplishment, drama and beauty, and Classical Opera’s superb cast is conducted by artistic director Ian Page. The concert begins with other works from Mozart’s extraordinary childhood, including his remarkable first symphony.

A post-concert gala reception with the cast is included with gala tickets.

Audio clips of Apollo et Hyacinthus taken from the new recording by Classical Opera on Linn Records, conducted by Ian Page:
Aria: Laetari, iocari (Melia) Klara Ek
Duet: Natus cadit, atque Deus (Oebalus, Melia) Andrew Kennedy, Klara Ek
Trio: Tandem post turbida fulmina (Apollo, Melia, Oebalus) Lawrence Zazzo, Klara Ek, Andrew Kennedy

‘Here was a work of staggering beauty, riddled with sweet noises like Caliban’s enchanted isle.’
