Dulwich Choral Society performs J.S. Bach’s great St Matthew Passion in German, with a period-instrument orchestra and an outstanding line-up of soloists.

This performance is the culmination of the choir’s major Bach cycle under the direction of Aidan Oliver, and follows recent sell-out performances of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Handel’s Messiah at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel, Greenwich.

NB. Please note early start time.

Nicholas Mulroy “is ‘the most sought-after evangelist of his generation’. It is a big call, but to hear him sing there is no doubt. He is a cogent story-teller, with a radiant sound that just gets more ravishing as it gets higher. It is hard to imagine anyone singing it better.”
(Sydney Morning Herald)

“Nicholas Mulroy is now an Evangelist of choice, dramatic yet never over-involved, engaged reporter rather than partisan witness.”
(The Observer)

“Loges made a charismatic, at times tellingly assertive Christus.”
(The Guardian)

“Mhairi Lawson was equally outstanding in the soprano arias.”
(The Guardian)
