The delicate colours and nuances of Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin offer a gentle commemoration of the anniversary of the First World War; Ravel had dedicated each movement in the original piano version to a friend who had died in the conflict.
Behzod Abduraimov, first prizewinner of the London International Piano Competition and his teacher Stanislav Ioudenitch, gold medallist in the Van Cliburn Piano Competition play Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos and after a selection of Dvořák’s folksong-based Legends the orchestra returns to Ravel and enters the enchanted world of the Mother Goose Suite.
