The ECO welcomes the return of the well-known conductor Daisuke Muranaka, in a programme of favourite works from the classical repertoire.
The grandest of the four magnificent overtures Beethoven composed for his only opera, Leonore – later renamed Fidelio – is followed by the ever-popular Piano Concerto of Robert Schumann, with the prizewinning young Italian pianist Gloria Campaner as soloist.
Mendelssohn’s memories of a youthful walking tour of Scotland are brought vividly to life in his ‘Scottish’ Symphony, No. 3 in A minor, composed in 1842.
