The London Chamber Orchestra is the longest established professional chamber orchestra in the UK, founded in 1921 by Anthony Bernard. LCO is conducted by Music Director, Christopher Warren-Green, and LCO concertmaster Rosemary Furniss performs as soloist. LCO woodwind soloists, Gordon Hunt, Mark van de Wiel, Meyrick Alexander and Pip Eastop perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Winds.

Inspired by the poem of the same name, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending was sketched as the composer watched troop ships crossing the English Channel at the outbreak of the First World War. The piece saw its premiere just weeks after the London Chamber Orchestra held its debut in St James’ Square.
