A concert to include pieces from opposing ends of Ireland’s compositional career; the early Trio for Clarinet, Cello & Piano (1913, later withdrawn by the composer but rescued by the Canadian clarinettist, Stephen Fox), and the Fantasy Sonata for Clarinet & Piano (1943), regarded by many as one of his most perfect chamber works.

The theme of the festival is also highlighted, by the inclusion of two rarely heard works by Ireland’s teacher; Charles Villiers Stanford – his 2nd Piano Quartet, and a pupil – Richard Arnell’s ‘Partita’ for solo Viola.

The performers, some of the UK’s most distinguished instrumentalists, are making their London debut as the London Soloists Ensemble.
