We regret to announce that Miloš Karadaglić is unable to perform in this concert. We are thrilled that the acclaimed, chart-topping guitarist Craig Ogden has agreed to replace him at this late stage. The programme remains the same. We wish Miloš a speedy recovery.
Australian born guitarist Craig Ogden is one of the most exciting artists of his generation, studying guitar from the age of seven. He is the youngest instrumentalist to have received a Fellowship Award from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
One of the UK’s most recorded guitarists, his recordings have received wide acclaim. Craig’s Classic FM albums The Guitarist and Summertime both shot straight to No. 1 in the UK classical chart in summer 2010 and 2011 respectively followed by the release of Christmas Time in November 2013. Both Summer Guitar which was released in June 2014 and Craig’s latest CD Craig Ogden and Friends released in June 2015 went straight to No. 1 in the classical chart. He has performed concertos with all of the main UK orchestras plus many abroad and has presented on BBC Radio 3 and on ABC Classic FM (Australia).
Craig is Principal Lecturer in Guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, Visiting Lecturer at London’s Royal College of Music, Associate Artist of the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and Director of the Dean & Chadlington Summer Music Festival.
Royal Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of Sage Gateshead, the UK’s only full-time chamber orchestra, has built a distinctive reputation as a fresh-thinking and versatile orchestra. Royal Northern Sinfonia was founded in 1958 by the BBC musicologist and producer Michael Hall. The Queen bestowed the title of ‘Royal’ on Northern Sinfonia in 2013 recognising it internationally as one of the UK’s finest orchestras – the first time any UK orchestra has been so honoured for over twenty years.
A note from Miloš:
“It is with huge regret that I must withdraw from my concert at Cadogan Hall on 5 December.
I have been having some problems with a muscle strain in my hand which became inflamed two weeks ago. I have been undergoing treatment and physiotherapy to put things right but unfortunately, we are not quite there yet and my consultant has advised that I should refrain from playing concerts for the next few weeks.
I was looking forward to these concerts in the UK so much and I can’t tell you how sad and sorry I am not to be there to play for you. I will plan another UK tour in 2016 and hope very much you will come back to see me then.
Thankfully, my friend Craig Ogden is available to step in for me this week and I know you will support him in my absence. He is a great guitarist and will do a really fine job.
For now, I send you my very warmest wishes and thank you so much for understanding my situation. I’m so sorry.
See you in 2016.
