If theatres have matinées, why not concert halls? It is an attractive idea, and this concert features the music of one of the world’s greatest composers, promising to be an enthralling afternoon.
Pianist Iain Farrington is, in the words of Musical Opinion, ‘steadily and impressively creating an enviable reputation’. The conductor Alan Tongue is better known in Budapest and Bucharest, but his rediscovery and conducting of Vaughan Williams’ doctoral exercise, renamed A Cambridge Mass, has made him known here.
This is the launch of The Beecham Orchestra, with leader Richard Friedman.
