New Chapter Author Morning: Harry Parker

Venue: Caversham Room at Cadogan Hall

New Chapter Author Mornings give the opportunity to meet fascinating writers and discuss their work.

Harry Parker served in the army in Iraq and Afghanistan before becoming an author and an artist. His first novel Anatomy of a Soldier has been met with huge critical acclaim. The story of Captain Tom Barnes and the insurgents he is fighting in an anonymous war zone is told through the viewpoints of objects from both the combat and domestic arenas, such as a helmet, a bicycle, a handbag and a rug and the medical instruments involved when Tom is blown up by a landmine and faces an arduous recovery. Through this highly original approach the novel delivers a bold, compelling and compassionate narrative of war and what it means to all those caught up in brutal conflicts.
