An exciting re-discovery: a mysterious stranger, a princess, a riddle, a wizard, with haunting, romantic music. A fully staged performance by New Sussex Opera of the last of Charles Villiers Stanford’s nine operas, “his finest operatic achievement”. The last professional staging was in 1935 and this overdue revival marks NSO’s 40th anniversary.

Based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen.
