Launching their new 2012-13 season Kaleidoscope, the Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra provides an evocative programme dedicated to the Northern hemisphere.

Chosen by Jonathan Pryce CBE as his Discovery of the Year 2009 and described by the Sibelius Society as ‘thrilling’ (Edward Clark, 2011), the NLSO are unique in their specialisation in repertoire of composers born within the Northern Lights region, and their innovative programming includes composers from these territories alongside other orchestral works.

Conductor Adam Johnson is joined for this concert by award-winning soprano Caroline MacPhie for a selection of exquisite songs by Grieg representing this master of melody and the legend of Solveig.

With Sibelius’ triumphant Karelia Suite, Grieg Songs for soprano and orchestra, and his extraordinary Peer Gynt incidental music (with projected images of the Aurora Borealis), this evening is a perfect chance to enjoy and witness the Northern Lights!
