Orion, the Orchestra of Rising Stars, makes a much anticipated return in a programme celebrating their exceptional versatility, virtuosity and passion. With its members selected from the cream of London’s young professionals, they are joined by conductor Toby Purser and one of the UK’s finest young violin soloists, Thomas Gould.

Written in the USA in 1939, Britten’s Violin Concerto combines virtuosic brilliance with elegiac lyricism, and is only recently being recognised as one of the most important works in the repertoire. Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique on the other hand is one of the most famous pieces in the world, a profound emotional journey, of which you can expect an unforgettable performance this evening.

In the presence of HRH Princess Michael of Kent.
