Gareth Williams and Trish Clowes have developed a repertoire of beloved jazz standards mixed with their own compositions over the last few years, performing at venues and festivals across the UK and for BBC Radio 3.

“Superlative piano/sax duo” (Brian Payne, Jazz Journal)

“The pair instantly sparked off each other” (Jon Carvell, Jazzwise)

“Astutely imaginative jazz… genuinely arresting compositions” (Liam Wilkinson, Northern Sky Mag)

Gareth Williams has unquestionably established himself as one of the country’s leading modern jazz pianists. A fiery and creative player, his remarkable talent has been seen with an impressive array of world-class artists, from Jazz/Hip Hop band ‘Us3’ through to internationally-renowned jazz musicians such as Joe Lovano, George Coleman and Jim Mullen. MD for iconic UK vocalist Claire Martin, Gareth has also appeared regularly with iconic US sax star Jerry Bergonzi.

Trish Clowes has been described as “one of the most agile and original jugglers of improv and adventurous composition to have appeared in the UK in recent times” (John Fordham, Guardian). A BASCA British Composer Award winner and former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Clowes has received critical acclaim for all four of her releases for Basho Records. The latest, My Iris, has been described as ‘musical wizardry’. Performances include London Jazz Festival, Gateshead International Jazz Festival, Celtic Connections, Women in (e)motion Festival (Germany), broadcasts for BBC 2 Proms Extra, BBC Radio 3 and Radio Bremen, and appearances with BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Royal Northern Sinfonia.
