- double bass
A newcomer to the British jazz scene, Gabriel Latchin is fast becoming recognised as one of the country’s leading pianists. His hard-swinging, adventurous approach often draws comparisons to his many influences, including Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans and Phineas Newborn.
In addition to writing for and leading his own trio, Gabriel is constantly in demand as a side man. Most recently, he performed with virtuoso bassist Christian McBride and opera star Renée Fleming at Wigmore hall last December. “Polished” said The Times, “Flawless” said London Jazz News.
He has also worked with Ronnie Cuber, former Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint, Grant Stewart, Alex Garnett, The London Jazz Orchestra and The Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has performed at concert halls, clubs and festivals around the UK and Europe, including The Barbican, The Queen’s Hall, The London Jazz Festival and The Jazz Bar.
Gabriel has graduated with first class degrees from both Edinburgh University and the Guildhall School of Music and has also studied with world leading pianists Aaron Goldberg, Peter Martin and David Berkman.
2017 sees the launch of his debut trio album Introducing Gabriel Latchin featuring his own compositions along side well know jazz standards.
