Paul Higgs takes you on a delightful musical tour of the history of jazz, playing hits by the legendary greats – Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, and Miles Davis, amongst others. Taking you through the styles of New Orleans, swing and bebop, through cool jazz, modal and Latin right up to contemporary jazz, Paul and his band give a lively and versatile performance. Paul’s entertaining commentary enhances these classics, creating a truly memorable show.

Ace trumpeter Paul Higgs plays with a sublime tone and breathtaking technique. He has performed with Johnny Dankworth, Lulu, Tony Hatch, John Williams, Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson. He has also performed in major concert venues around the world, and receives standing ovations on a regular basis.

Paul is renowned for his magical sound and exceptional skill. His great sensitivity, high energy and his versatility as a composer enable him to move with ease through all the different jazz styles. Playing with Paul are the outstanding trio Chris Ingham (piano), George Double (drums), and Jerome Davies (bass).

“I’ve never been sure if I’m a bigger fan of Paul’s trumpet playing or his marvellous composing talents as they’re both monumental! Paul Higgs is a world-class composer and trumpet player.”
(Digby Fairweather: BBC presenter (Radio 2 and 3), and jazz trumpeter)

“Paul is a classy emotive musician who can hold an audience in the palm of his hand whatever style he happens to be playing in. His trumpet playing is hauntingly beautiful.”
(Val O’Doherty, proprietor of Mill Hill Jazz Club)

“He is a superb musician who is extremely popular with artistes and the public alike. As well as being an exceptional trumpet player he is also a lovely man!”
(Ann Taylor, proprietor of Southend Jazz Club)

“Thanks for a wonderful gig. Paul, we much appreciate you coming down from London to mesmerise our audience, again, with your magic trumpet playing.”
