- Symphony Carpatica (London premiere)
- Leslie Howard
- Christopher Petrie
World-renowned pianist Leslie Howard joins the PCOL for a powerful performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a work regarded by many as the greatest piano concerto of them all. Its gorgeous melodies and inspired form has made it a mainstay of the repertoire.
Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 2 follows and is a work that draws upon the beautiful melodies of the Romanian lautari (gypsy) musicians.
We are very excited to present the London premiere of Symphony Carpatica by Calin Huma, a Romanian-British composer. Huma’s Symphony is inspired by the Carpathian Mountains in Romania and takes listeners on a journey to the grandeur of the colossal peaks, folk-like melodies and energetic rhythmic finale!
This concert is generously supported by Spirit Circuits and the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
