The Royal Orchestral Society, Britain’s oldest amateur orchestra founded in 1872, in collaboration with Ronald Corp’s London Chorus, performs Walton’s exciting and iconic setting of Belshazzar’s Feast.

This is preceded by Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, played by Martin Roscoe, and Bernstein’s reworking of his music for the 1954 film On the Waterfront into a Symphonic Suite. Ravel’s Concerto was written for Paul Wittgenstein, an Austrian pianist whose right arm was amputated during the First World War, and who then commissioned several major pieces for the left hand.
