- String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111
- Performed by Members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Opening with a soaring theme, Brahms’ Second String Quintet is a work full of passionate expression, involving much contrast and musical conversation between the instruments. Each movement has its own distinct character, and this will be demonstrated by some of the RPO’s best string players.
RPO Preludes is a series of chamber concerts curated and performed by leading musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. These concerts take place on the concert stage of Cadogan Hall from 6.15pm, before the main concert at 7.30pm. The series provides a unique opportunity to not only listen to some astounding chamber music, but also to hear some of our musicians in a more intimate and personal setting.
