Overture to Tannhaüser
Tchaikovsky
Variations on a Rococo Theme
Brahms
Symphony No. 3

Performers

Gemma Rosefield

Stephen Brearley
conductor

For its seventh concert in support of Freedom from Torture, The Doctors’ Orchestra plays an uncompromisingly romantic programme featuring romanticism’s three central composers. Brahms’ passionate Third Symphony is thought by many to have sprung from his probably undeclared and certainly unfulfilled love for Clara Schumann while the question ‘What is love?’ is at the heart of Wagner’s opera Tannhaüser.

The Orchestra is joined by the brilliant cellist Gemma Rosefield for Tchaikovsky’s charming but virtuosic Rococo Variations.

Concert Duration:
approx. 2 hours
