The Parliament Choir returns to Cadogan Hall with two pieces that represent high points in the careers of these two sunniest of composers. Haydn’s Harmoniemesse is the last of the six great Mass settings produced towards the end of his life. Although this is his final major work, Haydn’s undimmed musical imagination is set free on the grandest of scales in this constantly engaging and fascinating piece.

Another late work, Poulenc’s Gloria exhibits both sides of this still underrated composer’s personality, monkish yet playful. This exhilarating piece veers wildly between the cloister and the playground.
