Performers

Peter Phillips
director

We welcome back The Tallis Scholars in a programme that Peter Phillips has chosen to show how composers from three separate traditions interpreted the same texts: Catholic, Anglican and Russian Orthodox. It is interesting to hear how the sacred mood is so similar between the Renaissance and Modern composers, yet is achieved by quite different stylistic means. Once more The Tallis Scholars demonstrate their spectacular versatility.

Part of Choral at Cadogan 2014-15.

BBC Singers & Fretwork

Glorious sacred and secular music by Gibbons, Byrd and Tye, with award-winning viol consort Fretwork, sits alongside major works by two living composers: Thea Musgrave and Nico Muhly.

The Choir of Westminster Abbey

A rich and varied selection of Christmas music, from Renaissance gems by Byrd, Gibbons and Tallis, via exquisite sacred works by Poulenc, to contemporary carols by Gardner and Chilcott.

The Cardinall's Musick

The award-winning and innovative vocal ensemble performs a programme recognising the Psalms' inspiration for composers through the generations, contrasting works by Gabrieli, Allegri and Victoria...
