For over 35 years, Richard Hickox was the driving force and inspiration behind the St Endellion Festival in Cornwall (www.endellionfestivals.org.uk). In the unlikely setting of a medieval church on the North Cornwall coast, his indefatigable energy brought together each year a staggering roll-call of international soloists, chorus and orchestra for a unique festival which last year celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
This concert brings together participants of the Festival, including an outstanding line-up of British singers, to celebrate Hickox’s legacy and raise money towards the Festival’s Golden Jubilee Appeal. Drawing on some of the areas of repertoire for which Hickox was most celebrated – opera, Haydn’s great choral works and British 20th-century music - the programme showcases the St Endellion choir and orchestra in a concert celebrating one of the most remarkable festivals in British musical life.
