Programme:
Verdi: Requiem
This is one of the most enduringly popular, colourful, passionate, exciting, dramatic and widely performed works in the whole choral-orchestral repertoire. Verdi wrote it in memory of the poet Manzoni (d.1873), including in it an elaborate setting of the Libera me, his own contribution to an earlier collaborative but unperformed Requiem for Rossini (d.1868). Soloists and chorus are
underpinned by a large orchestra, capable of considerable ferocity when unleashed.
Please note: This concert has a stage extension, therefore the front row will be Row A.
