Programme:
J S Bach: St Matthew Passion
*** SOLD OUT ***
In the recent documentary A Boy Called Alex, in which he conducted a performance of Bach’s
Magnificat, Alex Stobbs was asked, “so what’s next? He replied, “The Matthew Passion. All three hours of it.”
Rodolfus Choir will give Alex, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, the opportunity to fulfil this wish.
Walker George Films will be filming the concert as the climax of the second film about his life. Alex is determined to help others by making a difference through this and other events, by aiming to increase understanding of this disease and raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis whenever he can. The new film will also help Alex to do this and will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the autumn 2009.
The whole concert will not be filmed, just selected parts for inclusion in the documentary, but the camera team will be there throughout at fixed positions and at some points one of the cameramen will need to be on stage as discreetly as possible to take shots of the orchestra, choir and Alex, also of the audience reaction to the concert.
