Now in its 19th year of music making the English Schools’ Orchestra is delighted to return to Cadogan Hall for its annual concert. The popular programme opens with the evocative Nuages and Fêtes from Debussy’s Nocturnes after which the orchestra is joined by the brilliant young pianist Tom Poster for a performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The programme reaches a climax as the orchestra’s full forces are brought to bear in Mahler’s monumental and ground-breaking First Symphony.
‘The standard of musical achievement was quite astonishing… the symphony received a performance of the highest class… it would not have disgraced the best professional orchestra. Well nigh perfect… a performance to savour and cherish’ (Classical Source 2012)
