London International Players continue to thrill audiences and critics alike with their enigmatic performances and dynamic programming.
On this occasion they combine well-loved repertoire with the world premiere of a Flute Sonata composed by Beth Barfield Brown in 1962 in Laos and its only performance given privately there by the great American flautist Samuel Baron.
A versatile polymath, holding a degree in French and a doctorate in biochemistry, Beth Barfield Brown was also a fine pianist, studying composition at Columbia University, New York. Previous performances of her works include a concert of songs in Paris and a song cycle at Wigmore Hall in June 2003.
